Pimpin'

So yes, it's been more than a month since my last post. We can waste all this time getting caught up in discussing why I've been so slack with them and what a terrible blogger I am and yada yada yada or we can just accept the fact that I've been busy with work and love and life and move on with it. Yeah, let's do the latter.

It's Anzac day long weekend and I'm having a more relaxed one, after last week's Easter antics, which took place while visiting a certain Mister in Melbourne. It was the longest we've been able to spend with each other in a while, and it was nice to get a couple of nights alone in the city together before we headed back to see his family for Easter lunch. We did big people things like go on proper fancy dinner dates and I forced him to take me shopping. He purposely behaved like a little brat, running around and sitting randomly on the floor in the middle of stores. If he thought that was gonna stop me from soldiering on and buying shoes, he was wrong - I went home with two pairs of heels, and a few necklaces and rings. Nothing compared to my old Melbourne shopping trips (I once went away to Melbourne for 4 days, and came home with 40kg worth of luggage - I had to pay $45 for excess luggage despite making the person I was travelling with get check in baggage on the way back just for me to use lol).

In all fairness though, he did have to put up with a lot more from me this trip than I had to with him. I behaved like a child one morning when I woke up too early, on the wrong side of the bed and then realised that I hadn't packed the dress I'd wanted to wear that day. I sooked and whinged and whined and carried on about how my day was ruined and how much life sucked because I couldn't wear the exact outfit I had planned to that day. It was the end of the world. When he suggested that it would be alright and asked why I couldn't just wear something else, the poor guy copped an earful because he just didn't understand me at all. I eventually got over it (not really - I was still burning about my ruined outfit, I just felt bad for being a bitch to him when nothing was his fault) and apologised and the rest of the day was rather pleasant.

The rest of the weekend got a little (a lot) messy and I spent the whole day on Monday being sick (that's putting it very nicely) in bed while he took care of me (after already having to deal with me the night before). I lucked out on this one, I think he's a keeper.

Anyway, the point to this story was that I did eventually get to wear that dress/outfit that I'd forgotten to pack the weekend before. Drinks (I only nursed half a cider for a few hours, because I'm still traumatised from last weekend) and 2up and grub at the pub with the girls on a rainy Anzac day. I only just realised as I was leaving the house that I was looking like a bit of a pimp with my hat and gold chain and furrrrr. But whatevs, I rock that shit. But just in case, I made sure I still looked presentable after losing said hat and fur.

Colour blocks and flower crowns.

Hey kiddos!

I know it's been a while again. This time it wasn't really my fault - my internet's been down for the last month or so, despite hours and hours spent on the phone speaking to the service (non) provider trying to get it fixed. Bah.

Work's been good but tiring. Not much else has been on besides that though.

I did head to Future Music Festival last week, which was all in all a pretty good day. It's not usually my scene, but with Pharell and Macklemore as headliners, I couldn't resist. This is what I wore. Rocking a flower crown, back pack and dad's old shoes.

Top, Shorts and Necklaces: Dotti; Bag: Bluebird; Rings: Collette & Lovisa; Flower Crown: Supre.

And just to prove I've still been thinking of you guys and this blog, here are some more photos from last week, dressed for a shopping date with my cousin on an RDO. Total outfit cost $100. Most expensive item, the vintage bag, at $50. Cheapest item, the dress at $1. Yes. $1.

Dress: Supre; Belt: Rubi; Shoes: Rubi; Necklace: Sportsgirl; Bag: Vintage; Sunnies: Mango.

And this, was today. It's been a long time since I've worn wide leg trousers, but any long-term readers will remember that they used to practically be my uniform. These Glassons babies were way too cute to pass up though (I did get a few funny looks, and my sisters asked me what happened to them and if I knew there was a big rip up either leg lol). My DSLR ran out of battery though, so you'll have to accept these lesser quality ones from my point & shoot.

I'm baaaaaaccccckkkkkkkk (with prints and dad's shoes)

Heeeeeyyyyyy. So, to say that it's been a while is a bit of an understatement. I'm sorry, I'm a terrible blogger person.

It's been a quarter of a year since my last post (I actually had to look that up just then), and even then, it was a bit of a shitty one. I'm sorry for my absence. Again, that thing called life gets in the way some times. Not that anyone should really care. I don't even know if anyone really reads this, but I've had a few thousand hits while I've been on hiatus, which makes me think that perhaps I'm better liked when I'm away lol. To that I say tough luck, coz I'm back biatches.

Okay. Where to start? A few major things have happened since we last met.

I finished uni. Finally. For good.

I fractured a rib at training while sparring, (my first broken body part after 14 years of martial arts!) and had to take it easy for a couple of months (which is really hard for me because I'm usually very active). The break took it's toll on my body and I started to not be able to fit clothes. Depressing.

I fell in love with a boy. He loves me despite my recently acquired pudginess. I've never been happier.

I went on my first overseas adventure, unaccompanied by family (with my childhood best friend). It had it's ups and downs (including getting my wallet stolen in Rome, and food poisoning in Barcelona), but I absolutely loved it, and I'll never forget all the wonderful people we met, places we stayed, things we saw, and food we ate. I came home even pudgier, and with eleven new pairs of shoes and a suitcase plus additional parcels full of new clothes. I can't wait to go again.

The boy I fell in love with had to move back home to Melbourne for work. I never thought I could do long distance, because it's too hard and it sucks arse (and it still does) but we're making it work. I posted him a jar of love heart-shaped Mars Bar and Toblerone cookies for valentine's day, and received some origami in return (I'm assuming it's because I'm Asian and he's racist).

I officially became a registered Radiation Therapist, and started my first big-girl job at the hospital I had always wanted to work at. Things are going well so far, and I'm looking forward to getting my first pay check this week! Unfortunately this also means a uniform (what a waste of my wardrobe!) - which means I'll have less outfits to post, but that's what weekends and RDO's are for right?

This is what I'm wearing on this wet and gloomy Sydney Saturday: floral, chambray, dad's old shoes, and my new balayage hair.

Dress: Cotton On; Shirt: Emerson; Bag & Shoes: Vintage; Watch: Forever New; Ring: H&M; Hair by: Hairloom J; Lipstick: MAC Rubi Woo.

Monochrome again.

"Black-and-white always looks modern, whatever that word means." - Karl Lagerfeld.

Still obsessed with monochrome, with hints of metallic. And on a budget (total outfit cost, including shoes & accessories was <$85. Lol, I'm a poor student okay?!)

The race that stops a nation//lunch dates

It's been a while. I know. My regular readers will have come to expect these random lapses from me from time to time. Life gets in the way sometimes. I apologise and promise to try and be better, but we all know it's a lie. Sorry, not sorry haha.

Yesterday was Melbourne Cup day and while I didn't actually make it to the races, I still made the effort to dress up (in two separate outfits - one day time and one night time) just for shits and giggles. Yes, I'm a little bit sad like that. I prefer to think of it as fabulous. This is the day time outfit. I wore it to pick up lunch at Oporto and study at a friend's lol. Didn't manage to snap the night outfit which consisted of a pink dress, black fascinator, belt and shoes that I wore to Marquee.

Dress: Ally; Belt: Just Jeans; Hat & Necklace: Forever New; Shoes: Imagination; Bag: Vintage; Cuff: Lovisa; Ring & Hair Pins: Colette by Colette Hayman.

And this was today - a lunch date with the boy. Great food, amazing company, showing some skin & avoiding study on a perfect, sunny day. This is living.

white on white / two days one top.

Last Thursday Sydney melted through a whopping 37 degree (39 out west!) day and I made the decision to wear white on white because well, it just reminds me of summer - simple, clean and chic. It's a brave move for me because I'm generally pretty clumsy, which often means that white clothes do not stay white for very long at all. Proud to report though, that I managed not to spill a single thing on myself, despite consuming plenty of saucy/liquidy foods and drinks that day. Yeah, I was pretty chuffed with myself, and what?! It's a pretty big achievement okay?!

My shoes, however, didn't make it through the day - I made the mistake of leaving them lying around while at a friend's place, and the (super adorable) puppy got to them. Luckily I only paid $5 for them at the Ozsale sale recently. And that I'm not exactly lacking in shoes lol.

And because I managed to not dirty my clothes on the day before, I managed to rock the same white top with these amazing trousers on the cooler Friday. They were a little bit tight after lunch but their cuteness made up for it!

the long weekend.

I'm so excited to write this post because:

1. For once I have photos with a decent backdrop! This was thanks to the beautiful girls at BBGB HQ (Being Babes Getting Babes Head Quarters) who were kind enough to let me invade/crash with them at their apartment in Glebe over the long weekend! If you're unfamiliar with the #BBGB movement, read more on it here

2. I finally get to blog some night-time outfits! This is normally quite rare because: 1) I'm usually running late, 2) I don't like taking photos at night time with a flash because they never do the clothes justice and 3) In the morning the last thing I want to do is put last night's outfit back on and take photos of myself in it (I got around this one this time because I woke up in the previous night's outfits LOL. Don't judge me, it was a good weekend!)

We kicked off the weekend by predrinking at BBGB HQ (I had come up straight after 2 hours of martial arts and so was consequently knackered and sweaty/gross), followed by stuffing our faces at Oporto. We lost two of the girls at this point, and the drinking/singing/drunk dialing kicked on at one of the guy's apartments we were with. Somehow we ended up at the Ivy...and then I don't remember much after that but I woke up the next morning still in my clothes and full face of make up from the night before, tucked into the couch with my phone and a glass of water next to me. It was a good time. Thanks to Ms Dani for looking after me!

This is what I wore the first night. Excuse my tired/grumpy face, I didn't get much sleep hahaha

Top: Cotton On; Skirt: Portmans; Shoes: Pure Hype; Clutch: Colette by Colette Hayman.

I'm fortunate enough to not get hangovers (I've had one in my entire life!) so I was up nice & early to enjoy the beautiful day that was Saturday. I washed the dishes, took those blog photos, and then went for a nice walk (I actually also ran) with a couple of the babes of BBGB HQ (the lovely Ms Lauren & Ms Jess) followed by a much needed coffee.

After a quick stop by Coogee beach, we shopped and prepped for a BBQ dinner that night and I also made plans to pop out to see the fireworks with a uni mate and his mates. By the time I got out to the city however, most viewing points were at full capacity so we ended up having a drink at a nearby bar instead (luckily I was overdressed for the fireworks anyway haha!).

I walked back to Glebe because there were no cabs and it seemed like a good idea at the time. 45 minutes, one near-stack, multiple blisters and one extremely hangry (hungry/angry) me later I was back at the house, inhaling chicken kebab sticks, sausages, salad, potatoes, doritos, salted caramel popcorn, two packets of migoreng, more popcorn, and potato chips. And LOTS of wine. None of the other seven girls in the house at the time stopped me, probably out of fear that I'd inhale them too. There were plenty of drunken antics (including attempts at the worm, doing the splits, shit talking (mainly by me), more drunk dialing (purely by me) and singing) and I thank the lovely ladies for 1) putting up with me 2) being amazing and hilarious 3) tucking me in yet again LOL. The rest of the weekend was much, much more relaxed and involved good food and even more amazing company.

I'm so incredibly happy at this point in my life, and count myself as ridiculously lucky to have all of these amazing people in it.

Till next time kids.
