stop it, you're being embarrassing.

I'm at my boyfriend's house, and as per usual, looking completely overdressed for the occasion fabulous. Because I like what I'm wearing, and it doesn't look like we'll be going anywhere (as he's been complaining that his 'tummy' hurts - yes I am dating a 6-year old (not literally, that's just wrong and illegal)- for the last three days), I whip out my phone and take a few quick selfies in the mirror on his built-in. This outfit deserves to be seen.

I have to be stealthy as his bedroom door's open and his family's walking around and I wouldn't want any of them to see me lest they think I was some sort of...luvo or something. His sister had already given me a weird look earlier when she walked in as I was applying my favourite red lipstick (MAC in Russian Red, FYI - a lipstick that I thought I'd lost a few weeks ago, but to my delight had found on the floor of my car) - I suppose she may have thought the colour was a bit much for daytime wear, especially considering my non-existent plans for the day. Or perhaps I just imagined the weird look and she was just genuinely walking in to say hello. Still, I feel I must be stealthy; I don't want to be judged, or to appear self-indulgent or embarrassing.

My boyfriend looks away from his computer screen for a brief moment, and then continues browsing reddit. With his back turned to me I hear, 'What are you doing?'

I ignore him and continue trying to get the lighting right on my iPhone.

'Are you taking luvos again?!!' he whines, in his best not again voice.

'They're for blogging purposes, man!' I explain/exclaim, perhaps a little too defensively.

His eyes leave reddit's front page again, this time with a full swivel of the computer chair (this is a big thing for an avid redditor), 'It doesn't matter if it's for your blog, stop it! You're being embarrassing!'

summer.

I know, I know. It's been more than a month since my last post. But you know, sometimes, life just gets in the way. It's been a pretty decent summer, regardless of the bipolar weather. We've had a good run of heat in the last few days, and apparently it's getting hotter this week. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to escape Sydney for a few days in mid-December with my high school mates. The beach was amazing, the company was amazing, and for the most of it, the weather was amazing (we only had one overcast/windy day as opposed to the full weeks I've had every other time I've headed away). One of the side effects of this coastal getaway, however, is that I'm now nigga black (I feel like I can get away with saying that now, you know, coz I'm black). I'm not even evenly black though, which is the worst part - my eczema-riddled skin has caused me to be blotchy white and brown in appearance. So excuse my horrible patchy skin guys.

Anyyyywayy. I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and New Years (I know I enjoyed eating and drinking wayyyyy tooo much!). I'm loving being on holidays now but I know it's quickly coming to an end as I prepare for my next block of clinical placement (I leave for Wollongong in exactly two weeks, eek!) As per usual I've not been as productive as I should be, and things on my to-do list a being pushed back for work outs, reading (one of my new years resolutions is to read more - which shouldn't be too hard to do as I don't really read anything besides blogs, magazines and my fb news feed lol), naps, beach days and hours by the pool. I have a feeling the week before I leave will be a stressed-filled-frenzy of packing and cleaning and struggling to finish the course materials for my martial arts instructors accreditation.

As previously mentioned the weather's been a bit bipolar (stinking hot to freezing cold), so I've alternated from wearing little clothing, to pants in summer (which is crazy for me as I used to live in shorts and dresses in summer, even when days got a bit nippy).  Here is how it's gone:
