Monochrome again.

"Black-and-white always looks modern, whatever that word means." - Karl Lagerfeld.

Still obsessed with monochrome, with hints of metallic. And on a budget (total outfit cost, including shoes & accessories was <$85. Lol, I'm a poor student okay?!)

The race that stops a nation//lunch dates

It's been a while. I know. My regular readers will have come to expect these random lapses from me from time to time. Life gets in the way sometimes. I apologise and promise to try and be better, but we all know it's a lie. Sorry, not sorry haha.

Yesterday was Melbourne Cup day and while I didn't actually make it to the races, I still made the effort to dress up (in two separate outfits - one day time and one night time) just for shits and giggles. Yes, I'm a little bit sad like that. I prefer to think of it as fabulous. This is the day time outfit. I wore it to pick up lunch at Oporto and study at a friend's lol. Didn't manage to snap the night outfit which consisted of a pink dress, black fascinator, belt and shoes that I wore to Marquee.

And this was today - a lunch date with the boy. Great food, amazing company, showing some skin & avoiding study on a perfect, sunny day. This is living.

white on white / two days one top.

Last Thursday Sydney melted through a whopping 37 degree (39 out west!) day and I made the decision to wear white on white because well, it just reminds me of summer - simple, clean and chic. It's a brave move for me because I'm generally pretty clumsy, which often means that white clothes do not stay white for very long at all. Proud to report though, that I managed not to spill a single thing on myself, despite consuming plenty of saucy/liquidy foods and drinks that day. Yeah, I was pretty chuffed with myself, and what?! It's a pretty big achievement okay?!

My shoes, however, didn't make it through the day - I made the mistake of leaving them lying around while at a friend's place, and the (super adorable) puppy got to them. Luckily I only paid $5 for them at the Ozsale sale recently. And that I'm not exactly lacking in shoes lol.

And because I managed to not dirty my clothes on the day before, I managed to rock the same white top with these amazing trousers on the cooler Friday. They were a little bit tight after lunch but their cuteness made up for it!

the long weekend.

I'm so excited to write this post because:

1. For once I have photos with a decent backdrop! This was thanks to the beautiful girls at BBGB HQ (Being Babes Getting Babes Head Quarters) who were kind enough to let me invade/crash with them at their apartment in Glebe over the long weekend! If you're unfamiliar with the #BBGB movement, read more on it here

2. I finally get to blog some night-time outfits! This is normally quite rare because: 1) I'm usually running late, 2) I don't like taking photos at night time with a flash because they never do the clothes justice and 3) In the morning the last thing I want to do is put last night's outfit back on and take photos of myself in it (I got around this one this time because I woke up in the previous night's outfits LOL. Don't judge me, it was a good weekend!)

We kicked off the weekend by predrinking at BBGB HQ (I had come up straight after 2 hours of martial arts and so was consequently knackered and sweaty/gross), followed by stuffing our faces at Oporto. We lost two of the girls at this point, and the drinking/singing/drunk dialing kicked on at one of the guy's apartments we were with. Somehow we ended up at the Ivy...and then I don't remember much after that but I woke up the next morning still in my clothes and full face of make up from the night before, tucked into the couch with my phone and a glass of water next to me. It was a good time. Thanks to Ms Dani for looking after me!

This is what I wore the first night. Excuse my tired/grumpy face, I didn't get much sleep hahaha

I'm fortunate enough to not get hangovers (I've had one in my entire life!) so I was up nice & early to enjoy the beautiful day that was Saturday. I washed the dishes, took those blog photos, and then went for a nice walk (I actually also ran) with a couple of the babes of BBGB HQ (the lovely Ms Lauren & Ms Jess) followed by a much needed coffee.

After a quick stop by Coogee beach, we shopped and prepped for a BBQ dinner that night and I also made plans to pop out to see the fireworks with a uni mate and his mates. By the time I got out to the city however, most viewing points were at full capacity so we ended up having a drink at a nearby bar instead (luckily I was overdressed for the fireworks anyway haha!).

I walked back to Glebe because there were no cabs and it seemed like a good idea at the time. 45 minutes, one near-stack, multiple blisters and one extremely hangry (hungry/angry) me later I was back at the house, inhaling chicken kebab sticks, sausages, salad, potatoes, doritos, salted caramel popcorn, two packets of migoreng, more popcorn, and potato chips. And LOTS of wine. None of the other seven girls in the house at the time stopped me, probably out of fear that I'd inhale them too. There were plenty of drunken antics (including attempts at the worm, doing the splits, shit talking (mainly by me), more drunk dialing (purely by me) and singing) and I thank the lovely ladies for 1) putting up with me 2) being amazing and hilarious 3) tucking me in yet again LOL. The rest of the weekend was much, much more relaxed and involved good food and even more amazing company.

I'm so incredibly happy at this point in my life, and count myself as ridiculously lucky to have all of these amazing people in it.

Till next time kids.

Ladies day.

I'm sorry for my lack of posts recently, I've been out living life and shit and haven't had a chance to stop and document my outfits (there've been a few cute ones though!)

This was today, which was spent being ladies with two of the cutest little girls I know. I love them to bits but thank them for reminding me that I don't want kids for a very, very, very long time. They cramp my shopping style yo.

Colour Pop Monday.

I bought these pants a few weeks ago while shopping with my bestie. We'd been in this (huge outlet-style) shop for ages (as is quite common for me) and by the time she found me again I was in front of the mirror, holding them up on the hanger (because I usually can't be bothered trying things on) pulling 'Hmmm...Do I like these or not?' faces at my reflection.

'What d'ya reckon?' I asked her.

'Umm...they're very...out there...'

I put on the blue blazer and then continued holding the pants up in front of my legs.

'How about now? With this?! I think it could work!'

'...they're very...out there,' she continued, thought this time with a little laugh that told me she knew I'd already made up my mind.

'Yep. I'm doing it!'

And when I chucked my pile of goodies on the counter and the pants scanned up as only $5, I knew it was meant to be. Love.

Bringing some much needed colour to a grey, gloomy, wet Monday. I was meant to spend it studying but instead I spent it being fabulous with fabulous company. (You can tell that I was actually up pretty late cramming by the massive bags under my eyes though! So obviously I deserved the day off!) Total outfit cost inclusive of shoes, bag and jewellery was under $200! (Under $120 if you lose the shoes and bag!) Cray.

(Lol so my 'look I'm having fun' shots come off a bit crazy *shrugs*)

Interviews

So, yesterday I sat my first ever interview for a big-girl job. I planned my outfit the night before, did the last minute cramming, rehearsed my answers to possible interview questions, gave myself little pep talks in my head. I told myself that I'd be fine; that I'd smash it and get what I deserved.

The morning of, I woke up well before my alarm was due to go off. I wasn't jittery or nervous at all. I did the usual sweep of social media pages before dragging myself out of bed, ironed my dress, and had a leisurely breakfast of muesli, yoghurt, berries and nuts with a side of coffee out on the balcony in the sun (in my pjs) while flicking through pages of a book that I'm reading (very, very slowly as I don't actually like to read lol).

I got dressed, put on my face (for today was one of those rare occasions I was going to wear daytime make up), did my hair and took some luvos for my blog (it should be noted that it was a warm day, and I have the tendency to sweat profusely, so my hair was already beginning to stick to my face at this point).

I got to uni (where the interviews were being held) with two hours to spare. A few of my friends had already finished their interviews and were chilling outside the room. Others were freaking out, and I was that annoying/encouraging person telling them not to worry; that 'they'd be fiiinnnneee, they had this.'

By the time it got to my interview time, my cool, calm, collected façade was beginning to break and my hands started to shake beyond my control. I laughed it off, because, what else are you gonna do at that point?!

So, I went in, shaking and super nervous. I stumbled over some words and there were points in my responses to possible questions that I'd rehearsed the night before that I'd completely forgot about come actual interview. There was a lot of 'I'd do this. No, wait, hang on, first I should've done this then I'd do that.'  I also talk with my hands a lot, which meant that my watch and bracelet constantly jingled and jangled - I actually had to stop, grab on to my wrist, and apologise about it at one point lol. The interview panel - consisting of three Chief Radiation Therapists (not a daunting thought at all!) - were super dooper nice though. They laughed off my scatterbrains and even made a joke about my jangling. I left feeling quietly confident, so if all goes to plan I'll have a job at my centre of choice for next year. I'll get back to you guys about it at the end of the month, when we're meant to hear back. Fingers crossed!

VFNO (in monochrome again).

One of my favourite nights of the year - Vogue Fashion's Night Out Sydney. It's like Thursday night shopping on steroids (injected with loads of glitz, glamour, nibblies, alcohol, freebies and impeccably dressed, ridiculously good-looking people as far as the eye can see).

I chose to spend the night in monochrome (yet again, I'm a little obsessed). If only I didn't sweat so ridiculously much, causing my face to melt, my hair to stick to my face, and my stick on bra to no longer stick (why yes that was awkward!) causing a need for an emergency stop at cK Underwear. Oh well, I was gonna go there for the male underwear models anyway. #hotmess
