Reinvention.

Lol, so it's been over a quarter of a year since I last blogged. That's a new record, even for me. So much has happened since I last wrote.

  • I spent 6 weeks living with Alex in Wollongong for a clinical placement at the hospital. I was a bit nervous about it at first because we'd fought every time we'd been away together previously, and those were usually pretty short trips (we once had a domestic in New Zealand which resulted in me storming out of the hotel room at like 10 o'clock at night). I'm happy to report though that we got along fine, and I could see myself happily living with him in the future. We stayed at the Best Western Apartments - it was small, but had everything we needed; it felt like just enough for the two of us, for the amount of time we had to spend there, In the mornings I'd leave for work, he'd sleep in until almost midday. I'd come home to a pre-made lunch (or did, for the first few weeks until he got lazy haha), scoff it down and then power walk back to work. Or sometimes on Wednesdays, when our apartment got it's weekly service we'd meet at SandyGoodwich (if you're ever in the Gong, it's definitely worth a visit - some of the best sandwiches I've ever had!) I'd come home three or so hours later, exhausted from being on my feet all day, and depending on what the weather was like we'd either go to the beach, or get started on dinner. I learnt that he was a pretty decent cook when he wanted to be! We'd eat dinner over episodes of My Kitchen Rules - this became our nightly ritual. And on the nights when this wasn't on, it was either Community or Parks and Recreation or Breaking Bad. I'd shower and head to bed early, ready for work the next morning - he'd wash up most nights. We would come home every second weekend or so for birthdays and Chinese New Year and what not, and be sent back to the gong with a car full of both pre-cooked meals and various ingredients with which to prepare our own meals later on in the week (it was as if there were no supermarkets down there or something lol).  I still miss our time away together, when our biggest worries were what to have for lunch and dinner, and whether we should walk to the city beach or drive to north beach after I got back from work.
  • The six weeks flew by, and before we knew it, it was back to uni for me, and starting a new, big-boy job for Alex, who is now employed as an Analyst for the world's top accounting firm. What a nerd.
  • I started a holiday fund, and aimed to put in at least $5 per day, which I know isn't much, but it all adds up right?!
  •  There were a few family dramas here and there, a few health scares, but everything's worked out okay so far.
  • I started working casually in an office in the city doing admin work. It's not the most engaging stuff, but it's very flexible, the people are lovely, I get to play dress ups and the extra money is always good. It's also reinforced the fact that I love working in the field of healthcare - I can't wait til this year of uni is over and done with and I can start my big girl job too.
  •  I went in to my hairdresser and told him to cut off as much as he wanted. Then two weeks later, I went in again and told him the same thing. I now have hair that's shorter than some of the 1-Direction boys (but edgier/less feminine lol) and I've subconsciously started  dressing to match (see below).
  •  I ran, and completed (thanks to a brilliant team) Tough Mudder, a 20km obstacle course, with ice baths and wall-climbing, and electroshock, and height-related things that had me hyperventilating. I came home exhausted, cut, bruised and battered, but I would (and will) do it all over again in a heartbeat.
  •  Alex graduated from his five year degree. He is now officially a Bachelor of Business and Commerce (Accounting)/Bachelor of Laws with Honours ( I repeat, what a nerd).
I have four more weeks of uni for the semester (which means it's getting down to crunch time, eek!) and then I'm on clinical placement at RPA hospital for another 6 weeks. And then on to my last semester of uni, (hopefully) ever. Double eek! Scary and exciting times ahead!

If the last few weeks have taught me anything though, it's that I'm tougher than I thought I was - I will strive and push myself to do things that I normally wouldn't have, to be better than I think I can be. Hey, I've got to match my new hair right?

Right now, I'm off to do battle with this horrendous cold/flu that thinks it's gotten the best of me. Will write again, soonish. If I'm not too busy out there, you know, doing err...stuff...and...thangs

stop it, you're being embarrassing.

I'm at my boyfriend's house, and as per usual, looking completely overdressed for the occasion fabulous. Because I like what I'm wearing, and it doesn't look like we'll be going anywhere (as he's been complaining that his 'tummy' hurts - yes I am dating a 6-year old (not literally, that's just wrong and illegal)- for the last three days), I whip out my phone and take a few quick selfies in the mirror on his built-in. This outfit deserves to be seen.

I have to be stealthy as his bedroom door's open and his family's walking around and I wouldn't want any of them to see me lest they think I was some sort of...luvo or something. His sister had already given me a weird look earlier when she walked in as I was applying my favourite red lipstick (MAC in Russian Red, FYI - a lipstick that I thought I'd lost a few weeks ago, but to my delight had found on the floor of my car) - I suppose she may have thought the colour was a bit much for daytime wear, especially considering my non-existent plans for the day. Or perhaps I just imagined the weird look and she was just genuinely walking in to say hello. Still, I feel I must be stealthy; I don't want to be judged, or to appear self-indulgent or embarrassing.

My boyfriend looks away from his computer screen for a brief moment, and then continues browsing reddit. With his back turned to me I hear, 'What are you doing?'

I ignore him and continue trying to get the lighting right on my iPhone.

'Are you taking luvos again?!!' he whines, in his best not again voice.

'They're for blogging purposes, man!' I explain/exclaim, perhaps a little too defensively.

His eyes leave reddit's front page again, this time with a full swivel of the computer chair (this is a big thing for an avid redditor), 'It doesn't matter if it's for your blog, stop it! You're being embarrassing!'

summer.

I know, I know. It's been more than a month since my last post. But you know, sometimes, life just gets in the way. It's been a pretty decent summer, regardless of the bipolar weather. We've had a good run of heat in the last few days, and apparently it's getting hotter this week. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to escape Sydney for a few days in mid-December with my high school mates. The beach was amazing, the company was amazing, and for the most of it, the weather was amazing (we only had one overcast/windy day as opposed to the full weeks I've had every other time I've headed away). One of the side effects of this coastal getaway, however, is that I'm now nigga black (I feel like I can get away with saying that now, you know, coz I'm black). I'm not even evenly black though, which is the worst part - my eczema-riddled skin has caused me to be blotchy white and brown in appearance. So excuse my horrible patchy skin guys.

Anyyyywayy. I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and New Years (I know I enjoyed eating and drinking wayyyyy tooo much!). I'm loving being on holidays now but I know it's quickly coming to an end as I prepare for my next block of clinical placement (I leave for Wollongong in exactly two weeks, eek!) As per usual I've not been as productive as I should be, and things on my to-do list a being pushed back for work outs, reading (one of my new years resolutions is to read more - which shouldn't be too hard to do as I don't really read anything besides blogs, magazines and my fb news feed lol), naps, beach days and hours by the pool. I have a feeling the week before I leave will be a stressed-filled-frenzy of packing and cleaning and struggling to finish the course materials for my martial arts instructors accreditation.

As previously mentioned the weather's been a bit bipolar (stinking hot to freezing cold), so I've alternated from wearing little clothing, to pants in summer (which is crazy for me as I used to live in shorts and dresses in summer, even when days got a bit nippy).  Here is how it's gone:

Lace Top: Vintage; Singlet: Cotton On; Shorts: Forever New; Belt: Portmans; Shoes: Tony Bianco for Wanted; Watch: Mimco; Bag: Vintage.

Sorry about the boring post guys. I'm tired and hot and bothered now though and I haven't much else to say - just a promise, to write again. Probably not even soon LOL. Just being honest. xoxx you still love me, don't try & deny it!

stereosonic ft. stella vo

Music concert/festival season has officially started (with summer less than a week away, yay!). I spent last last Sunday partying at Coldplay (FYI, it was amazeballs) and then Saturday the following week at Stereosonic. Now Stereo isn't my normal scene - I'm usually more about live bands/singers and rock/alternative music than house/dance and DJs. But when one of my (awesome) girlfriends asked me to come along with a few of her (equally as awesome) friends, and I saw that the line up included my obsession of the moment, Calvin Harris (his songs are awesome to exercise to), I couldn't refuse. And I'm not gonna lie, the idea of getting to dress up for a festival may have given me that little extra nudge lol.

This is what I rocked:

Top: (I've forgotten the brand, sorry lol); Shorts: Asos; Belt: Dotti; Booties: Factorie; Sunnies & Head Piece: Sportsgirl; Bangles: Market Stall; Ring: Colette.

My shorts were pretty short but compared to some of the girls (and half of the guys) there, I may as well have been dressed for winter. I don't think I need to reiterate my love of sequins, and I love love love these babies even though they were a size too big in the waist, a touch too short for my liking and left me with tiny little cuts on my inner thighs (sequins/rubbing - not pleasant; they scratched me every time I had to go to the loo, so I just held it all day lol). And over- accessorizing?  No such thing.

P.s. this is my niece, Stella. She was watching me pose, taking these photos and requested a turn too, lol. Such a cutie.
