another backlog

Hey guys, I know it's been a while, but my lack of posts is not entirely my fault, I promise. I've got no internet at home until the 29th because we're changing networks so I've had very little chance to log on. I'm currently at my boyfriend's place stealing internet; blogging from his laptop while he plays diablo III (sigh).

Lots has happened since I last wrote, and you've missed many blog-worthy outfits in between, including the pretty yellow dress I wore to my graduation. Yes, I finally graduated - meaning I'm officially a medical scientist. Lol, sounds weird. I prefer full time student. Sounds less grown up. Anyway, because of all the hustle and bustle that morning I didn't get time to do my usual luvo shots of my outfit, but here's one from later that day:

And to prove I was indeed still thinking of you whilst on hiatus, here are some snaps of a couple of outfits you missed out on. There were a couple more of them, but without net at home I had little motivation to keep a record of them.

To be completely honest I can't remember the brands of several items in this outfit. The dress (worn as a top) is from Supre, the necklace is from Portmans, and the cardi is from Cotton On. Skirt I got from Trade Secret but I can't remember what the label reads. Shoes were from a little independent boutique outside of Livo. I wore it on one of those sunny but nippy days, where I couldn't decide whether I was cold or hot. Those days are becoming much more frequent.

This is one of my favourite recent outfits - I wore it on a day where I didn't have particularly much on during the day, but had my cousin's showcase performance on at night.  Okay so I was probably a little over dressed for lazing around the boyfriend's house but I felt like someone out of Gossip Girl. I loved this dress so much that I bought it in another colour as well  - light pink top with a maroon skirt (can't wait to wear it!). As you can see I'm also loving the boots and the clutch from my last post.

Dress: Into Fashion; Belt: vintage Esprit; Boots: Dotti; Double Cuffs: Diva; Clutch; eBay; Coat: Avocado; Sunnies: Cotton On.

Vintage-inspired outfit that I wore last Friday. The pants look like PJs and I love it.

Tank: Ally; Gold Lace Top: Vintage; Printed Pants: Vintage; Necklace: Dotti; Wedges: Tony Bianco for Wanted; Clutch: eBay; Sunnies: Cotton On.

And Today, this is what I'm wearing. It's raining and freezing out, and I regret wearing such a loose knit because when the wind blows it feels like I'm wearing nothing. It's comfy though. I'm absolutely LOVING these Boundary & Co paneled pants that I got from a warehouse sale that I went to on Saturday (it was awesome - I picked up a Jayson Brunsdon dress and cardigan, a Zara dress, a Saba dress, these pants, a Raoul real leather skirt, a Valentino dress shirt (mens, that I'm just gonna wear over leggings), and a pair of cK undies, for an amazing $115 - craazzyyyyy).

Gold and Black Weave Knit: Ally; Pants: Boundary & Co; Necklace: eBay; Watch: Mimco; Shoes: Kmart (I know right??!)
As if I hadn't spent enough this week I got a little side-tracked on the way home from uni today at DFO. I'm $200 poorer, but two pairs of leather boots, a handbag, four dresses, a top and an iPad cover richer (thanks Dotti, Portmans, Nine West and Windsor Smith).

Okay that's it from me today. May be a while before I get to blog again but I promise to do so as soon as I get the chance!

finding what you're looking for.

When you've had something on your lust list for ages, and you finally find exactly what you're looking for, it's amazing. When it also happens to be an incredible price, it's even better. When four things that you've been searching for for ages merge into a symphony of a few, short, beautiful hours (and cost you less than 65 bucks all up), that, my friends, is nothing short of magical.

Sorry this last picture's sideways - stupid blogger won't let me flip it back. Also, ignore the coat hanger - remnants of my old job.

Why yes, I am meant to be studying.

I have an exam worth 45% on Monday morning, at 8am. There are 23 lectures I have to make notes for/study. I currently have notes for 3 - and that's only because I made them earlier on in the semester when I was still running on the it's-a-new-semester-and-I-will-keep-up-to-date-with-my-work promise. You know, that one you make to yourself at the start of every semester.

But here I am, 4 days before the exam and utterly unprepared. Many of my classmates are stressing out even  though they started their study weeks ago. I'm not stressed - not because I know my stuff, far from it actually. I'm just doing that thing I normally do where I ignore it until the last minute. Come Sunday night I'll be in tears, I promise. It happens every time. I know it's terrible, but it's one of those habits I just can't seem to shake. I'll regret it when the time comes lol.

Now, I've been meaning to blog since Monday, but just haven't gotten around to it. It's been absolutely freezing in Sydney for the last few days, despite sunshine and blue skies making an appearance. I would say it was time to put away those denim shorts and sun dresses but with the weather being as temperamental as it is, you just don't know anymore.

On Monday, I broke one of my personal rules: tights are not pants. What can I say, they were just so comfy, and being cloudy and overcast that day, I just wanted to rug up without having to worry about the muffin top hanging over my skinnies. The top was pretty long anyway, so my bum was covered at least! I can't stand it when girls have their arses hanging out in tights.

Tank: Oxford Woman; Oversized Cardi: Cotton On; Leather Pannel Tights: Imprint; Crochet Pannel Boots: Forever 21; Bag: Sportsgirl; Ring (index finger): Colette; Ring (ring finger): custom made Michael Hill Jewellers; Watch: Mimco.

And today this is what I'm wearing (I changed into flats for uni though). Yes, those ARE real leather pants lol.

Pussy bows and DFO

I've gotta make this one quick because I have a child to put to bed and its waaaayyyy past her bed time (sorry mum lol).

I got up this morning and checked the forecast - 24 degrees and cloudy according to Weather HD. So I took the occasion to break out my favourite high waist jeans, for the first time this season. Teamed it with a mustard yellow ladylike pussy-bow blouse and tan accessories. Good old 70's casual/glam for my trip to DFO (which was decent - and I was good, only spending another $80. Bardot was disappointing though). Such a shame I had to change into the emergency dress I had in the boot of my car by the time we got back to my cousins mid-afternoon. Apparently 24 and cloudy means 27 and sunny by the afternoon. Should really learn to stop trusting that app!

Back (b)log

Before I start I just have to say I'm hating blogger's new layout. It's ugly and it keeps flipping my photos on their sides (so I've had to put them together on one image and I hate the way that looks!) The 'change back to old format' button isn't there any more and this makes me sad.

It's been a rather depressing week overall actually. The weather's been atrocious & I really don't enjoy the rain unless I get to sleep in. I've been meaning to post for the last few days, but for some reason or another I haven't gotten around to it, so I do have somewhat of a backlog of photos to post.

Thursday was particularly cold and wet and so I rugged up and hid my frizz-prone hair from the rain. Excuse the crappy photo quality - the weather meant no natural light so I had to rely on the halogens in the bathroom.

Dress: Saintshylo; Belt: Supre; Leggings: Xpression; Beret: Forever 21; Boots: Roc (from Sheriton Shoes); Coat: Ally.

Friday looked like this:

Top: Miss Shop (from Myer); Leggings: Xpression; Boots: Roc (from Sheriton Shoes); Belt: Zahara; Necklace: Temt; Rings: Rubi Shoes; Bag: Sportsgirl

What was meant to be a quick pit stop at DFO on the way home from uni (okay, so it's not really 'on the way' home...just close) ended up taking 2 hours and costing me just under four hundred bucks that I don't really have. Lol, what can I say, when I'm depressed I shop, and the weather's got me down. I'll update you on that in later posts.

The weather did finally clear up today though, and I got to wear my newly acquired, bright, floral dress (an absolute steal from Dotti ($5!)). The skirt has an awesome swish to it, it's super comfy and the colours are so bright and vibrant - a perfect match with the shining sun!

Haven't really got much else to say tonight. Sorry for the bland post, I'm really tired and I have to be up early for another trip to DFO - the new Bardot outlet opens tomorrow and my cousin wants me to go with her. I don't know how I got roped in to that one lol.

Till next time folks! xx

no more than usual

'Do I look strange?' I ask my sister as I get ready to leave the house for uni this morning. She continues scrolling through Ozsale for a bit before glancing back.

'So?'

'No.' and she turns back to the computer screen.

'Are you sure?'

'Well, no more so than usual.'

Touché.

tough with a pinch of pretty

I know. I never call, I never write. You would barely even remember what I look like, if it weren't for the bazillion photos of me on this page. I'm the world's worst blogger (note: I'm totally not just saying that because all the other fashion bloggers say the exact same thing upon return from an unexpected hiatus lol. Okay so maybe a little).

The truth is - at least fashion-and-blogging-wise - I've been feeling a tad lacklustre as of late. I've been finding it increasingly harder to find outfits to wear despite not exactly lacking in wardrobe choices. I mean, sure I'd get dressed, and leave the house decently dressed and presentable. But outfits were neither inspired nor inspiring. They were, well, boring for the most of it - bland clothes that were too busy to be basic yet too plain to be noteworthy, or outfits completely re-used out of sheer inability to come up with something new. And so, I left them off the blogosphere.

See, normally when there's a lull in posts, I'm still thinking about the blog. Still taking photos, still coming up with new ways to express myself through what I wear. This time there was little to nothing. Don't get me wrong, I still thought about writing, but I was - yes, here's that word again - uninspired. It may have been a combination of a number of factors: uni & assessments, the temperamental weather, the major decrease in the number of purchases made as of late (due to unemployment and consequent lack of money), my dodgey internet connection, and of course, my poor, poor broken camera. I had lost my blogging mojo.

But a couple of days ago I did something I hadn't done a while: I played dress ups. For a good, long, few hours. And although I didn't exactly leave the house that day wearing anything particularly outstanding, I knew that that spark was starting to come back.

This is what I wore yesterday. I was pretty overdressed considering I only went to the local shopping centre to pick up some groceries and then to my boyfriend's place to bum around the rest of the day, but I was happy to be. I was the good old overdressed-wearing-stilettos-shopping-and-working-it me again. And boy, was it good to be back.
